Our Story

ClimbCo Group was founded by Kelly Soohoo, an ultramarathoner, AMGA Single Pitch Instructor, WEMT, and accomplished climber who has independently summited peaks like G2, Aconcagua, Denali, Mt. Rainier, and more. Originally from Los Angeles, Kelly spent 13 years on a U.S. trading desk working with institutional and algorithmic firms before leaving finance in 2015 to pursue his passion for climbing. Drawn to China in pursuit of a first ascent, Kelly’s journey led him to the Eastern Tibetan Alps and the heart of China's vibrant climbing community. Inspired by this experience, he established ClimbCo in 2020 and Lacuna Climbing in 2022 to meet the growing demands of the climbing gym market with world-class equipment.
